Today was a rainy Sunday which put paid to our favourite monthly brocante here in the Charente near the Dordogne border. Its only about 20 minutes from our chambres d'hotes so its not much of a journey - about the same time to get to angouleme from our bed and breakfast.
So we went there for lunch assuming there wouldn't be many stalls as the rain was howling down - great I thought. Not spending any money today. Yes!
So we got to the brocante and no surprise it was empty - all the dealers we know had stayed away and we didn't arrive till 1pm instead of the normal early morning.
We usually know of all the good brocantes in both the charente and dordogne all the way down to Bordeaux and acrood through cognac to La rochelle way in the Charente Maritime through our brocate contacts but of course they are weather dependant - not surprisingly.
Anyhow my wife has a magic gidt and it manifests in different ways - on this occasion she managed to go to a brocante with no stalls in the pouring rain and still come how with a very rare wasp waist stockman mannequin
Don't know how she does it!
