Ok so we are blowing our own trumpet - but the private suite at Montaurand provides one of the most unusual and glamorous ways to stay at a Chambres d'hotes Bed and breakfast in The Charente.
Being so near the Dordogne, Cognac, Angouleme, Bordeaux ( 30 mins on the new super fast TGV), Bergerac, Perigeaux, Limoges etc and so means there is loads for you to do and see whether it is going to the brocante markets in the Dordogne and Vienne or hitting the seaside at the Isle de Re or Royan.
With summer now officially back in business and the daily temperature at 30 C + , its just lovely here and the house is very cool giving you a comfortable rest - the construction of huge blocks of local calcaire ( chalk) keeps the heat out in summer and in during winter. Very clever really - they knew how to do things properly in 1890!
We are off to bordeaux soon - on ouigo(sncf) its so quick to get there by train so you can easily pop up for the day and enjoy everything bordeaux has to offer without worrying about parking. Its very cheap too.
