French Brocante style @ montaurand chambres d'hotes charente dordogne

Our maison de maitre was built in 1891 and has a wonderful solid construction with the charentaise calcaire blocks giving it a very swedish feel - which is great as we are also Europe's leading specialists in Swedish antique furniture and antique mora clocks.

So it combines perfectly with our own Swedish style and colour palette. We started the redecoration with our collection of rare Swedish antique furniture and antique mora clocks.

We then added interesting brocante finds that we have sourced in the brocante markets of the Charente and Dordogne to decorate the various rooms. You can see some of them on our brocante shop at www.madeleinesbrocante.com

So it could be vases and pictures, or Eric our wonderful taxidermy heron or 1800s boudoir dolls and collections of lace. Or perhaps antique french fabrics on old room dividers and antique french lamps.

Its great fun finding these pieces and then working out how to fit them into the decorative scheme.

When you stay with us at Montaurand at the the private suite (chambres d'hotes bed and breakfast), you are surrounded by beautiful things and will enjoy the ambience we have created - if you like brocante stuff we have a variety of lovely pieces you can buy and we can also tell you what brocante markets to visit for a great day out.
