Get the brocante fever at Montaurand this summer

The dordogne and Charente in France are well known for their brilliant brocante markets. They happen every weekend from march to november and are a great way for little quiet french villages to put themselves on the map.

They vary in size from 10 -300 stalls and you can find all sorts of things from bric a brac and boot sale stuff to stunning french antiques and vintage items - chandeliers, boudoir dolls, stockman mannequins, antique lace, vintage fabrics, old french mirrors. You name it.

It's a social event as much as anything where all the locals get together and the village for once in the year suddenly gets the hustle and bustle of loads of visitors.

If you have the eye and are very careful you can find some amazing things - you can see some of them on madeleine's shop =

We love going to brocantes and if you are not afraid to bargain you will find great stuff .

We can tell you which brocantes to visit and even get you someone to guide you around the brocantes if you dont speak french - its a great day out
